Indian chai being loved by both locals and foreigners. It is quite tastier than regular tea we consume everyday. If you don't know, Indians are obsessed with spices and they can’t resist putting them just about anywhere. That's the secret of their taty and healthy chai. There are quite variety of chai recipes available in Indian, but the most popular chai among lots of Indian is "Masala chai". At the beginning of the recipe story, it is worth to mention about the spice mix. No matter how many spices you choose to include in the mix, you have to prepare them by yourself to get the fresh flavor of the chai. You have to crush all of those spices before adding them to Chai preparation pot. It is a smart idea to pound them and keep those spices separately on airtight bottles to protect their freshness. That way, you have a ready-made batch of Masala chai mix. Let's make our fresh and delicious chai !

Masala Chai Recipe

Ingredients
  • whole cloves
  • 2 cardamom pods
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/4  teaspoon ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon fresh black pepper
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • granulated sugar (As per your choice)
  • 2 tablespoons black tea

Method
  1. In a mortar, crush all those spices.
  2. Transfer the crushed spices to a small saucepan filled with water
  3. Bring it to a boil.
  4. Remove the pan from the heat, cover it using a lid and let steep for 5 minutes to get that perfect aroma and taste of crushed spices.
  5. Then add the fresh milk to this pan along with sugar for some sweetness. 
  6. Bring back to a boil.
  7. Remove from the heat and add the couple of teaspoons of tea (as per your choice)
  8. Cover and let steep for 3 minutes.
  9. Stir well and strain it into a teapot or teacups.
  10. Enjoy your Masala chai while it is hot and fresh.
