    RECIPE

    1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan.

    2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. Set aside.

    3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the molasses, egg, and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.

    4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the hot water. Begin and end with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

    5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

    6. Remove the loaf from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

    7. While the loaf is cooling, prepare the cream cheese frosting. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, and continue to beat until well combined.

    8. Once the loaf is completely cooled, spread the cream cheese frosting over the top. You can also garnish with additional gingerbread spices or decorative sprinkles, if desired.
