INGREDIENTS
- 1 tsp matcha powder
- 1 cup of Milk – Use any milk you like—dairy or non-dairy.
- 2 tbsp cane sugar – A small amount of sugar in the blueberry sauce enhances sweetness and reduces tartness. Maple syrup is a great alternative!
- ½ cup blueberries (Frozen or Fresh) – Frozen blueberries take longer to soften during cooking.
- Water and Ice Cubes – You will need water to make the Matcha tea and water to cook the blueberries. To serve, you will need ice cubes.

RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS
1. Make the Matcha Shot
- Gather your tools: a matcha whisk (bamboo or regular), spoon, fine mesh strainer, electric milk frother (optional), kettle, and matcha bowl or small bowl.
- Sift 1 teaspoon of matcha powder into your matcha bowl using the strainer.
- Use the back of a spoon to press the powder through, ensuring there are no clumps. This step is crucial for a smooth, lump-free drink.
- Heat water to 60-80°C (140-176°F) and add 2 tablespoons of hot water to the matcha powder.
- Whisk briskly in a zig-zag (W or M) motion for about 20-30 seconds until the mixture is smooth and frothy. Set aside.

2. Prepare the Blueberry Sauce
- In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of blueberries (fresh or frozen), 1 tablespoon of cane sugar, and 1 tablespoon of water.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the blueberries soft and juicy, about 5-7 minutes.
- For a smooth sauce, strain the mixture using a fine mesh strainer, pressing with the back of a spoon to extract the liquid and leave the pulp behind.
- If you prefer a textured drink, mash the cooked blueberries with a potato masher and use the mixture as-is. Let the sauce cool.
3. Assemble the Iced Matcha Latte
- Fill a glass with ice cubes.
- Pour 2-3 tablespoons of the blueberry sauce into the glass, followed by 1 cup of your preferred milk (dairy or plant-based).
- Slowly pour the prepared matcha shot over the back of a spoon into the glass to create a layered effect.
4. Enjoy
- Use a straw to stir the drink gently, blending the vibrant purple-blueberry layer with the green matcha.
- Watch the colors swirl together into a beautiful purple-green hue.
- Sip and enjoy this refreshing, antioxidant-packed treat!
